 Stockton’s Wing embark on a few gigs in January to promote the release of their live album “Hometown” on Tara/ Universal Ireland in January 2022 followed by a tour in March/April.

The long-awaited album was recorded in Ennis and at TradFest Dublin and features all the hits, Beautiful Affair, Skidoo, Walkway as well as many Wing concert favourites along with some new tunes.

The line-up features Mike Hanrahan, Paul Roche, Tara Breen, Karol Lynch and Paul McSherry in an acoustic style setting.

In 2020 Tara Music/Universal Ireland released Stockton’s Wing Beautiful affair ‘A Retrospective’ the 42 track collection told  the story of Stockton’s Wing through their vast music catalogue spanning 4 decades – from the early recordings of ‘Take a chance’ to the innovative and critically acclaimed ‘Light in the Western Sky’, the excitement of a big band sound on ‘Full flight’ and ‘Stockton’s Wing Live’ and the engaging and stunning return to basics on ‘The Crooked Rose’.

The album reached number one in CD and vinyl sales across the country.  They headlined TradFest 20 and invited many friends to join them to celebrate the release including Ralph McTell, Maurice Lennon, Leslie Dowdall, and The Henry Girls.

Stockton’s Wing is a collective of musicians hosted by founding members Mike Hanrahan and Paul Roche. For the past five years they have been joined by fiddler extraordinaire Tara Breen,  Karol Lynch on banjo and mandolin, and guitarist Paul McSherry.

During their 40-year career, Stockton’s Wing recorded and performed with Ronnie Drew, The Dubliners, Sammy Davis Junior, Maura O Connell, Val Doonican, Sharon Shannon, Moxie, Sean McGuire, Finbar Furey and The Clancy Brothers, played at both Michael Jackson ‘Thriller’ shows in Ireland and appeared in Oscar nominated movie The Field Featuring John Hurt and Richard Harris.

They are highly respected for their innovation, musicianship, and creativity. Their performances are both electric and eclectic. The sound of Stockton’s Wing is unique, steeped in the Clare tradition and forever stretching beyond the boundaries of Irish music.

Their song Beautiful Affair was voted into RTE radio top 75 Irish songs of all time.

The Live album Hometown release will be preceded by a stunning live version of the bands classic Irish trad/ funk hit SKIDOO.
